  1. Except Jesus Himself quotes from Daniel 7:13-14 (in Mark 14:62; Matthew 26:64) and says He is that Son of Man, the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One (God) !!

60 The high priest stood up and came forward and questioned Jesus, saying, “Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?”
61 But He kept silent and did not answer. Again the high priest was questioning Him, and saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”
62 And Jesus said, “I am; and you shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”
63 Tearing his clothes, the high priest *said, “What further need do we have of witnesses?
64 You have heard the blasphemy; how does it seem to you?” And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.
65 Some began to spit at Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists, and to say to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers received Him with slaps in the face.

    Mark 14:60-65

And other NT writers, also Jews, also interpreted “the Son of Man” as Jesus fulfilling the prophesies of Daniel.

    Revelation 1:7
    Revelation 1:12-16

So, Hurtado should have said, “it is not there in Jewish commentaries of 2nd Temple Judaism, EXCEPT for the Jewish interpreters who wrote NT books” !!!

    • The New Testament constantly testifies that Jesus is both the Son of Man and the Son of God.

      2 natures in one person.

Fully consistent with Nicea and Chalcedon. Amazing. I wonder where they got that from? Oh yeah, the New Testament, the true Injeel.

    • It is far from certain that they are the actual words of Jesus. We have nothing from Jesus’s own hand. Or anyone else who says they saw the crucifixion.

      • Mark is the earliest gospel, as you and most all scholars agree. It seems disingenuous of you to use Mark in the way you do (so many times in all three of your blogs over the past some 8 or 9 years) against John or Paul, yet when the material is against Islam, then you resort to, “it is uncertain that those are the actual words of Jesus”.

Of course they are His actual historical words.

Say, “O People of the Scripture, you are [standing] on nothing until you uphold [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord.” And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. So do not grieve over the disbelieving people.

“O people of the Scripture” = the Christians and Jews at the time of Muhammad held to the same Scriptures that we have today. (even with all the textual variants, they are basically the same thing)
